Today we did a team ride with the majority of our team members and we planned to ride to the Western Cape border which is 70kms out of town. We all made it there in excellent time and had a quick bite to eat before heading back home. The weather was kind and we even had a few rain drops on our way out of town, nice cloudy and cool weather along most of the way to the border and then the sun came out in full force to give us a welcome home. We were intending to tackle the Verlatenkloof pass, but after a long distance (104kms), no more liquids and a beating sun, we decide that it might be wiser to back down on the issue - he who fights and runs away lives to fight another day.....

Our team colours

We approached a number of clothing companies and Velotex, a cycling clothing company stepped up to the plate generously gave us 8 sets of cycling gear. At the first opportunity we handed over four sets to the riders that were present. It was most rewarding to see how it has motivated the riders and it immediately donned on and worn for the team ride. Members of the community were talking about how smart the team looked while out practicing.

We would like to thank Velotex from the bottom of our hearts for their contribution. I don't know if they knew how much difference their contribution would make to a number of cyclists.

We are currently working with another organization that is aldo very promising to complete our final requirements.

All systems go - mostly

We have resolved most of the outstanding issues and requirements, but there are still a few outstanding ones. The ones outstanding are not deal breakers and what we have achieved so far is amazing.

Keep checking for our next post which should come with a team pic on Sunday.....
